Flights stopped because of haze
Flights stopped because of haze
KUALA LUMPUR (AFP): Malaysia Airlines System called off
yesterday more than 10 local flights within the eastern Sabah
state on Borneo after heavy rain and thick haze impaired
visibility.
The national carrier told Bernama news agency it had also put
on hold six flights late Thursday when visibility dropped to
below two kilometers.
It apologized to about 900 passengers who were affected,
saying the cancellations were unavoidable to ensure their safety.
All flights would resume once the weather improved, the
airline said.
Meanwhile, the haze engulfing Kuala Lumpur worsened despite a
cloud-seeding exercise to induce rain.
