On June 26, 1996, my husband and I had dinner at the Shima
Japanese Restaurant on the 27th floor of Plaza Bapindo, Jakarta.
The waitress gave us the special menu for that month. I inquired
whether they had the ordinary menu, to which the waitress replied
"Yes". My next question was about whether the special menu was
for two persons, to which she replied in the affirmative. I
decided to order from the special menu.
When I asked for the bill I was shocked at the high prices
compared to prices for the same food in another outlet of the
same restaurant, in Aryaduta Hotel, where we often dine.
I inquired about the big difference in prices and was told
that prices in Shima Japanese Restaurant were higher.
In the other restaurant I usually pay Rp 200,000 for that
food, but in Shima I paid Rp 377,000, with the only difference
being that the lobster there was alive before being cooked.
