Flats Prepared for Temporary Relocation of Senen Railway Trackside Residents
President Prabowo Subianto wants to build housing for residents along the railway tracks in the Senen area of Central Jakarta. Currently, flats are being prepared to temporarily relocate residents along the tracks.
As is known, Prabowo once visited the railway trackside area in Senen. There, Prabowo absorbed the aspirations of residents living along the tracks.
The moment of Prabowo’s visit was uploaded to his personal Instagram account, @prabowo, on Thursday (26/3/2026). Prabowo’s arrival was welcomed by local residents.
Prabowo was initially seen entering a market area that appeared to be closed, then proceeding to the railway trackside area. Residents sounded enthusiastic upon seeing Prabowo’s arrival.
At the location, Prabowo absorbed the aspirations of local residents. He then revealed plans for building decent housing for residents in the surrounding area.
“Listening to the aspirations of the community there, insyaallah we will soon build decent housing for the community in that area quickly, and it has become my determination to provide decent housing for the Indonesian people,” he said.
Prabowo’s Directive
Prabowo gave this directive to Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait, Minister of Public Works Dody Hanggodo, Acting Director of Perumnas Imelda Alini Pohan, and Director of PT KAI Bobby Rasyidin. The directive was given in a limited meeting chaired by Prabowo.
“President Prabowo directly instructed the Minister of Housing via telephone as he was in Toba (represented by the Secretary General), the Minister of Public Works, the Director of Perumnas and KAI (Indonesian Railways) as well as several related officials to build housing for residents still living along the railway tracks,” wrote Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya on the Setkab Instagram account, Friday (27/3).
DKI Provincial Government Follows Prabowo’s Instructions
The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is following Prabowo’s instructions. The provincial government will prepare flats as temporary relocation sites.
“From us, we’re just waiting for instructions from the central government. Mr Pram (Jakarta Governor) always supports central government programmes, the answer is definitely yes,” said Special Staff to the DKI Jakarta Governor for Communications, Chico Hakim, to reporters on Sunday (29/3/2026).
Chico said the flats would be built by the central government. The provincial government will provide relocation for temporary housing.
“The land belongs to the central government, perhaps in those areas too, ask the central government. But certainly, for now, there’s relocation first. That place is not decent, we’re preparing our flats for relocation,” he said.
“From DRPKP, we have prepared Nagrak and Rorotan flats (North Jakarta) and PIK Pulogadung flat (East Jakarta),” he added.
Chico said discussions would be held. The provincial government will meet with Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP) Maruarar Sirait.
“This Sunday afternoon, we’re going to meet with the Minister of PKP,” he explained.
