Flash Floods Hit Solok, Severing Road Access to Padang

The area surrounding the Solok Regent’s office in Nagari Batang Barus, Solok Regency, West Sumatra, has been hit by flash floods. The flooding has been occurring since Monday (21/9) night.

Road access from Padang to Solok is currently severed. Police officers and SAR (Search and Rescue) teams are already on the ground to manage the situation.

“It is true (the Padang-Solok road cannot be traversed),” said the Director of Traffic of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Reza Chairul Akbar Sidiq, as reported by detikSumut on Monday (21/9).

Reza stated that access from Padang to Solok and vice versa has been closed since 20:45 WIB. Neither two-wheeled nor four-wheeled vehicles can pass through the location.

The closure was implemented due to the flash flood that occurred around 20:00 WIB in the vicinity of the Solok Regent’s Office.

“Because of the flash flood next to the regent’s office,” he explained.
