Flash Floods Hit Solok Region, Severing Road Access to Padang

Flash floods have struck the area surrounding the Solok Regent’s office in Nagari Batang Barus, Solok Regency. The disaster has resulted in the disconnection of the road access from Padang to Solok.

“It is true (the Padang-Solok road cannot be traversed),” said the Director of Traffic of the West Sumatra Regional Police, Kombes Reza Chairul Akbar Sidiq, as reported on Monday (21/09/2026).

The flash flood has been occurring since tonight. Police officers and SAR teams are currently on the ground to manage the situation.

Reza stated that access from Padang to Solok and vice versa has been closed since 20:45 WIB. The closure was implemented because the flash flood occurred near the Solok Regent’s office area.

“Because of the flash flood next to the regent’s office,” he explained.

He noted that both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles are unable to pass through the location. The flash flood was reported to have occurred at approximately 20:00 WIB.
