Pontianak (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is expanding access to financing, marketing and legal services for MSMEs in West Kalimantan through the Flagship Entrepreneurial Fair (BWU), in an effort to accelerate business growth and create new entrepreneurs.

“Growth of this kind would not be possible without government policy support. That support covers financing, legal compliance, certification and market access,” MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman said in Pontianak on Monday while attending the West Kalimantan BWU, themed “Dare to Start, Grow and Be Ready to Make an Impact”, at the Auditorium of Tanjungpura University (Untan).

He said BWU is a facilitation and business-matching programme intended to help prospective entrepreneurs, students and MSME operators develop their businesses through access to financing, mentoring and expanded marketing networks.

The programme is one of the Ministry of MSMEs’ efforts to support a target of creating 10 million new entrepreneurs by 2029, while encouraging businesses to drive employment growth.

Maman said MSME operators need practical support so their products can not only be produced, but also meet business requirements and reach wider markets.

The government is therefore working with various partners, including retail chains such as Alfamart and Indomaret, to create opportunities for MSME products to be sold through modern trade networks.

The Ministry of MSMEs is also developing the SAPA UMKM system with 14 other ministries. The system is designed to integrate financing, legal services, market access, and information on government policies and incentives.

It is expected to make business development services easier to access for entrepreneurs in areas far from urban centres, including Kapuas Hulu and Ketapang.

“Through SAPA UMKM, we are integrating a range of services, from financing and access to legal services to market access and information about government policies and incentives,” he said.

Maman also announced a 50 per cent reduction in administration fees for micro and small businesses selling through e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Shopee, TikTok Shop and Tokopedia.

The benefit is intended for businesses selling locally made products that have registered with the MSME system.

At the event, the Ministry of MSMEs signed memorandums of understanding with TVRI, 14 regency and municipal governments in West Kalimantan, and Tanjungpura University, as well as a joint commitment to support the implementation of SAPA UMKM.

Maman said he hoped the partnerships would strengthen an integrated service ecosystem, giving West Kalimantan’s MSMEs wider access to business development, improving product competitiveness and extending their market reach.
