Flag hoisting for Jakarta's birth day

In connection with the 466th anniversary of Jakarta, Governor
Surjadi Sudirja has instructed all citizens living in the Greater
Jakarta area as well as all state-run and privately owned
institutions, factories, companies, hotels, hospitals and shops,
to hoist national flags at their compounds, houses or sites for
three days in succession, starting on June 21.

The hoisting of the flags should be adjusted to the width of
the yards and compounds, and they should be put up properly,
Kenna Tarigan, the spokesman for the celebration committee said
in a statement yesterday.

He said Governor Surjadi will be present among fellow Jakarta
citizens in all five mayoralities on June 21, where there will be
various entertainment programs held on open-air stages as part of
the anniversary celebrations.

These programs will feature a host of famous singers,
entertainers and comedians based in Jakarta, Kenna said. (bas).
