FKUB of Bekasi Regency Distributes 10,000 Iftar Packages at Wibawamukti Stadium Area
The Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB) of Bekasi Regency distributed 10,000 packages of iftar meals to members of the public passing through the Wibawamukti Stadium area in Cikarang on Friday, 13 March in the evening.
The distribution activity was carried out as a demonstration of care and solidarity amongst people of different faiths during the holy month of Ramadan. Thousands of iftar packages were distributed to two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicle riders as well as local residents passing by just before the time to break the fast. The activity also involved FKUB officials and a number of volunteers who assisted in distributing the iftar packages at the side of the road in the Wibawamukti Stadium Complex area.
Head of FKUB in Bekasi Regency KH Mubarok Nuri stated that the iftar distribution activity represents a form of social concern and an effort to strengthen solidarity and harmony amongst people of different faiths in Bekasi Regency. According to him, the month of Ramadan is an opportune moment to foster a spirit of sharing with others, particularly for those who are travelling as the time to break the fast approaches.
“Through this activity we wish to share happiness with the public, particularly those who are still on the road at the time of breaking the fast. We hope that what we do can provide benefit and strengthen the sense of togetherness amongst the community,” stated Kiai Mubarok in his statement on Saturday, 14 March.
He added that the iftar distribution activity also forms part of FKUB’s commitment to maintaining harmony and tolerance amongst people of different faiths. With the spirit of togetherness, the organisation hopes that values of brotherhood and social solidarity will grow stronger amongst the community.
The social action received a positive response from members of the public passing through the Wibawamukti Stadium area. Many vehicle riders appreciated the iftar distribution activity as it helped those who had not had time to prepare food for breaking the fast.
Habibi Somad, Secretary of FKUB in Bekasi Regency, stated that the iftar distribution activity has already become an annual tradition of FKUB. The number of iftar packages distributed this year increased compared to the previous year.
“Last year we distributed approximately 5,000 iftar packages. Alhamdulillah this year we were able to distribute more than 10,000 packages. This demonstrates the spirit of togetherness from all elements across religions in Bekasi Regency,” he said.
Habibi added that this activity is not merely about distributing food for breaking the fast, but also serves as a symbol of harmony amongst people of different faiths in Bekasi Regency. All religious elements united in FKUB participated in the social activity. The programme, which has now been running for a decade, demonstrates extraordinary growth in public participation year on year.
