FKDT Chief Praises President Prabowo's Move to Quell Febrie Case Polemic

The Chairman of the Central Board of the Diniyah Takmiliyah Communication Forum (DPP FKDT), Lukman Khakim, has expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s steps in maintaining coordination among law enforcement agencies amidst the polemic over handling an alleged corruption case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah. According to Lukman, the President’s rapid response has helped prevent the polemic from developing into a commotion that could disrupt the focus of officers in resolving the case. “We convey our appreciation to President Prabowo for taking swift and wise steps. Amidst a situation that had the potential to cause a stir, the President stepped in to ensure that all law enforcement officers continue to work towards one goal, namely upholding the law and eradicating corruption,” Lukman said in a written statement on Sunday (12/7/2026). According to Lukman, law enforcement requires not only courage and firmness but also good coordination among state institutions. Differences in authority or case handling mechanisms should not create a perception of inter-agency competition. “Corruption eradication must be a collective effort. The substance of the case must not be overshadowed by the impression of tug-of-war or rivalry among law enforcement officers. The public needs assurance that all institutions are working professionally and strengthening each other,” he said. Lukman assessed that the transfer of case handling from the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps to the Attorney General’s Office could be a way to keep the legal process focused, orderly, and not trapped in prolonged polemics. However, he stressed that the transfer must be accompanied by openness and accountability. The Attorney General’s Office, according to him, needs to demonstrate to the public that the handling of a case involving a figure from within its own institution is carried out objectively and without special treatment. “The most important thing is not the question of which institution is handling it. The measure is whether the legal process runs transparently, professionally, impartially, and can be accounted for to the public,” he asserted. Lukman stated that this situation also serves as a test for the Attorney General’s Office to prove its commitment to eradicating corruption. Handling the case openly and in accordance with legal corridors, he continued, will strengthen public trust in law enforcement institutions. He also viewed the President’s move as a form of leadership in maintaining the harmony of work across all state institutions. The President, Lukman said, is not only obliged to ensure the government runs effectively but also to ensure that his assistants do not work in silos. “This is where the President’s leadership is needed, namely to unify steps, direct coordination, and ensure each institution works according to its authority. Firmness is still necessary, but the atmosphere must be maintained so that law enforcement does not turn into inter-institutional conflict,” he said. The FKDT Chairman General hopes the public will not be trapped in speculation or narratives that pit the police against the prosecutor’s office. All parties are asked to give officers the opportunity to complete the legal process in a clear and responsible manner. “Let us oversee this case with clear minds. There is no need to pit one institution against another. What we must collectively demand is truth, justice, and law enforcement that does not bow to anyone’s interests,” Lukman concluded. Previously, the Head of the Police’s Corruption Eradication Corps, Inspector General Totok Suharyanto, explained that the alleged corruption case related to coal, ASABRI, and Krakatau Steel had been transferred to the Attorney General’s Office. During the investigation, police named two suspects with the initials FA and DR after examining 15 witnesses and two experts, as well as conducting searches at several locations. The transfer was said to be carried out to strengthen synergy among law enforcement agencies.
