FJI Prepares Counter-Report Following Dissolution of GMS Worship Service
The Forum Jihad Islam (FJI) DIY plans to lodge a counter-report with the police following the recent dissolution of a worship service for the Gereja Misi Sejahtera (GMS) congregation in Sewon, Bantul. FJI DIY alleges that there was data manipulation by the GMS side.
“So, for the time being, we will not issue a statement yet. We are currently preparing the documents to file the counter-report,” said the Chairman of FUL DIY, Abdurrahman, when contacted on Tuesday (2/6/2026).
“(The report concerns) data manipulation from the church side,” he continued.
Although Abdurrahman declined to provide specific details regarding the report, he ensured that his organisation would remain cooperative with the police.
Previously, the case involving the disruption of worship at the Gereja Misi Sejahtera (GMS) in Sewon, Bantul, by a mass organisation last Sunday (24/5) was under police handling. The status of the case has now been elevated to the investigation stage at the DIY Regional Police (Polda DIY).
“On Friday, 29 May 2026, investigators from Polda DIY conducted an exposure and upgraded the case status to the investigation stage,” stated the Head of Public Relations for Polda DIY, Kombes Ihsan, in a video statement received by journalists on Monday (1/6).
To date, investigators have interrogated 16 witnesses. However, Ihsan did not specify the identities of the witnesses examined.
“Investigators have, up to this point, conducted marathon examinations of 16 witnesses,” he added.
