Five Warehouses in Jakarta Found Storing Thousands of Illegal Mobile Phones Ready for Sale, with a Fantastic Value

Jakarta, VIVA – Bareskrim Polri has uncovered a case of illegal imported goods circulation stored in five warehouses in the Jakarta area. The revelation was made through a search conducted by the Smuggling Law Enforcement Task Force (Gakkum) on Wednesday, 15 April 2026. From the raid results, investigators found thousands of units of illegal imported mobile phones suspected to be distributed in the domestic market. This was revealed by the Director of Special Economic Crimes (Dirtipideksus) of Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General of Police Ade Safri Simanjuntak. “The Smuggling Law Enforcement Task Force of Bareskrim Polri has successfully seized thousands of illegal mobile phones from 5 warehouses,” he said in a written statement quoted on Thursday, 16 April 2026. Ade Safri detailed that from the five warehouses searched, three are located in the Penjaringan area, North Jakarta, while the other two are in Cengkareng, West Jakarta. This uncovering is a follow-up to the directive from President Prabowo Subianto in efforts to eradicate smuggling practices deemed detrimental to the state. Furthermore, investigators are continuing to develop the case to trace the network and close the loopholes causing state revenue leaks from such illegal activities. “In line with the follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s order to eradicate smuggling. The loopholes in the customs sector must be closed,” he said. Ade Safri added that the Gakkum Smuggling Task Force has been established up to the Polda level throughout Indonesia to strengthen crackdowns on similar crimes. “As a concrete manifestation of Polri’s commitment to protecting the nation’s wealth or natural resources, securing sources of state revenue. And firm law enforcement without discrimination to support national economic resilience, which is the foundation of national sovereignty,” he stated.
