Five villages in Dompu Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), have begun to be hit by drought. As many as 240 households (KK) have been affected and are struggling to obtain clean water for their daily needs.

The Acting Head of the Dompu Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Wan Muhtajud, explained that the five villages are spread across two districts, namely Woja and Pajo Districts. The three drought-affected villages in Woja District comprise Bakajaya Village, Nowa Village, and Kandai 2 Urban Village.

“Meanwhile, there are two villages in Pajo District with 105 affected households, namely Ranggo Village and Tembalae Village,” Wan Muhtajud told detikBali on Wednesday (15/7/2026).

The Dompu BPBD, Wan said, has distributed clean water to residents affected by the drought. The clean water has been distributed on a rotating basis using tanker trucks.

“The distribution of clean water using tanker trucks is being carried out sporadically and on an ad hoc basis to temporarily address the drought problem,” he added.

Wan revealed that the BPBD is currently monitoring and coordinating regarding other areas that are beginning to be affected by the drought. According to him, the drought is also having an impact on farmland that has recently been planted as well as crops ready for harvest.

“For other areas, we are still monitoring and coordinating with village heads, and likewise for farmland with the potential to experience drought — data is currently being coordinated with the Agriculture Office,” said Wan.
