Several suspects in an alleged corruption case involving the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB)’s emergency-use funds wore detention vests after being questioned at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Wednesday (14 October 2026). The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) named five suspects in the case: BNPB commitment-making official Gabriel Purwaka Sigit and four private-sector individuals, Bima Setiawan, Richard Erlangga, Gery Prasetiawan and Syifa Nrika Ghifarian.

During a sting operation linked to the case, the KPK also seized evidence including gold bullion and cash worth Rp1.4 billion. The investigation aims to uncover alleged corruption in the use of BNPB emergency funds, which are allocated to meet disaster-response needs.
