The Attorney General’s Office’s Joint Investigation Team has handed five suspects in an alleged corruption case involving PT YAT’s procurement of electric motorbikes for the National Nutrition Agency’s (BGN) management of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme in 2025–2026 to prosecutors.

The Attorney General’s Office’s Head of the Legal Information Centre, Anang Supriatna, said in a statement received in Jakarta on Saturday that investigators had also handed over evidence to the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office. The transfer of the suspects and evidence, known as Phase II, took place on Friday, 9 October 2026, he said.

The five suspects are BU, a former secretary of BGN’s Deputy for Provisioning and the procurement official; GB, a director of PT ASE and PT AKI; AM, a commissioner of PT ASE and PT YAT; YY, a director of PT YAT; and AA, a director of PT ASE.

According to the investigation, the procurement covered 19,269 electric motorbikes: 13,155 trail bikes and 6,114 scooter or underbone models. Of these, 5,355 trail bikes and 230 scooter or underbone models were reported to have been supplied without batteries.

All the two-wheeled electric vehicles were also reported to lack official government vehicle number plates. As a result, they could not be used and could not be entered into the inventory of State-Owned Goods (BMN).

An audit of state financial losses, dated 5 October 2026, calculated the loss in the case at Rp863,846,166,953 (Rp863.85 billion).

Anang said the five suspects were charged primarily under Article 603 of Law No. 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of Law No. 31 of 1999 on the Eradication of Corruption, as amended by Law No. 20 of 2001, and Article 20(c) of Law No. 1 of 2023. The alternative charges are under Article 604 of the 2023 Criminal Code, in conjunction with Article 18 of the 1999 Corruption Eradication Law, as amended, and Article 20(c) of the 2023 Criminal Code.
