Five Stars Bali Security Guard Flees with Ecstasy During Police Raid
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) has arrested 53 people in connection with a drug trafficking case at the Five Stars nightclub in Denpasar, Bali. A security guard at the nightclub attempted to flee and discarded ecstasy pills as police moved to arrest him.
Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso, Director of Drug Crimes at Bareskrim, stated the case was uncovered by a joint team from Sub-Directorate IV and the NIC Task Force, led by Senior Commissioner Handik Zusen, Senior Commissioner Kevin Leleury, and Adjunct Senior Commissioner Titus Yudho Ully, on 30 July 2026.
Police initially received a tip-off from the public regarding narcotics distribution at the nightlife venue. Officers then conducted a series of investigations using an Under Cover Buy (UCB) technique at the location.
"When the team conducted the undercover buy at the entertainment venue, one of the security staff was found to be bringing items suspected to be ecstasy-type narcotics," said Brigadier General Eko Hadi Santoso in a statement on Monday (10/8/2026).
Police then moved to make an arrest, but as they did so, the security guard attempted to escape and dispose of the evidence by throwing the narcotics he was holding towards a crowd of patrons.
"Officers guarding the front entrance also faced resistance from several security guards, which caused bruising to the forehead, chest, and hands," he added.
Police eventually subdued the resisting security guards. Evidence seized included 12 ecstasy pills, a packet of crystal methamphetamine, and a drug pipe.
"In the locker of a woman named Christy, officers found a small scale, one clip of crystal methamphetamine, two green ecstasy pills, five vapes containing etomidate, 11 H5 pills, a packet of dried cannabis, Djoy pods with etomidate cartridges, a white safe containing two smaller safes with a total of Rp 39,350,000 and Rp 8,090,000, and a small red bag containing Rp 1,050,000," he said.
Eko explained that a total of 53 people were detained in the operation, comprising a number of suspects and witnesses.
"The joint team officers detained 53 people in the operation, who are classified as suspects and witnesses, along with various types of drug evidence," Eko clarified.
He stated that those detained are still undergoing examination. Bareskrim investigators are currently conducting further developments regarding the case.
"Further information will be provided by the Bareskrim Drug Crimes Director once the examination of the suspects and witnesses is complete," he concluded.
