Five-star hotel at Lippo Village to open soon

JAKARTA (JP): The Imperial Century Hotel and Resort, a five- star hotel-cum-luxury resort in Tangerang, a fast growing town 23 kilometers west of Jakarta, will be opened in September, the hotel management said.

"The construction work is now in its final stages," said the hotel general manager, Malcolm McLauchlan. "The soft opening of the hotel will be held on Sept. 16."

Malcolm said at a press meeting yesterday that the management is now recruiting workers as part of final preparations for the hotel's opening.

"Thus far we have recruited at least 200 employees," Malcolm said, adding that the newly hired employees will have to take a six-week intensive training course organized by the hotel's management. The training will start in the first week of August.

The hotel, which will be managed by the Hongkong-based Century International Hotel, was built by PT Prudential Hotel Development, a subsidiary of the Lippo Group who is building the posh Lippo Village.

Occupying a 7-hectare plot in Lippo Village, the hotel is just 45 minutes from Sukarno-Hatta international airport. "The route can be reached within 15 minutes when the development of a direct road between Lippo Village and the airport is completed in the future," Malcolm said.

Ibrahim Pearce, the hotel's marketing manager, said the US$65 million hotel is the third hotel to be managed by Century International Hotel in Indonesia after Hotel Atlet Century Park in Senayan, Central Jakarta, and another Century hotel in Manado, North Sulawesi.

Designed to cater to the needs of expatriates working for industries in the Tangerang area, the hotel is positioned to meet the demand of temporary staying guests, such as executives and foreign technicians working in Tangerang, and the cabanas for longer staying guests.

Ibrahim said the 152 room hotel and 48 cabanas will offer a full range of star rated hotel amenities, including a nine-hole golf course, meeting rooms, swimming pools, numerous restaurants, health club and spa, indoor tennis and badminton courts as well as squash courts. (has)
