Five SPPI Participants Die, Defence Ministry Says Several Illnesses Undetected
Five participants of the Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) programme, who were prospective managers of the Merah Putih Village/Subdistrict Cooperatives and Fishermen’s Settlements, have been declared dead while undergoing basic education and training. Head of the Defence Ministry’s Human Resources Development Agency, Major General TNI Ketut Gede Wetan Pastia, confirmed on Saturday (27/6) that health examinations had been carried out on the participants before the training commenced, but a number of illnesses went undetected.
