Five soccer hooligans arrested

JAKARTA (JP): City Police have arrested five hooligans following a brawl which took place shortly after the Indonesian soccer league quarterfinals match between Persib Bandung and Medan Jaya on Sunday at the Senayan stadium.

According to a police statement released yesterday, the first four hooligans are believed to have been involved in the destruction of several cars parked outside the stadium.

The suspects, currently detained at the city police headquarters, have been identified as Hendri Hutagalung, Bona SP Manurung, Lansiar and Mangan.

The fifth suspect, identified as Dwi Yono, was arrested for illegally possessing a sharp weapon.

A number of Persib Bandung fans were injured during the brawl which erupted seconds after the game, which was won by Persib Bandung 2-1.

Police hope that the owners of the damaged cars will lodge formal reports with the police in order to bring the four suspects to court.(bsr)
