Five Sisingaan Sound System Operators Electrocuted in Cikarang, Three Dead
Three people have died following an electrical accident involving a Sisingaan sound system crew in Cikarang. The deceased have been identified as G (18), J (20), and R (29), according to Bekasi Metro Police Chief, Kombes Sumarni, on Wednesday (3/6/2026).
Two other individuals, R (18) and R M (22), sustained burns and have been transported to Radjak Cibeureum Hospital in North Cikarang for medical treatment. The tragic event took place during a Sisingaan activity in Kampung Cibeureum, Mekarmukti Village, North Cikarang, Bekasi Regency, on Tuesday (2/6).
The incident began as the Sisingaan procession was preparing to resume their march after a break. A crew member positioned atop the sound system trolley allegedly attempted to lift an electrical cable by hand. The electric current then reportedly travelled through the metal structure of the sound system trolley, affecting several people nearby. Circulating video footage shows several individuals collapsed on the ground following the shock, amidst scenes of panic among local residents.
Kombes Sumarni visited the victims at Radjak Cibeuteum Hospital to ensure they are receiving necessary medical care and to offer condolences to the affected families. “Police officers have attended the scene, conducted an investigation, cordoned off the area, interviewed witnesses, and coordinated with the hospital. The Inafis team of the Bekasi Metro Police has also processed the crime scene to collect initial evidence,” she stated.
Police are currently investigating the exact cause of the incident, though preliminary findings suggest the victims were electrocuted by power lines located near the event site.
