Five Public Holidays Remain in 2026: Check the Schedule of Remaining National Holidays and Collective Leave
Jakarta – The year 2026 has entered its second half, yet there are still a number of national holidays and collective leave days that the public can take advantage of to rest, gather with family, or plan short trips. Although the number is not as high as at the beginning of the year, several remaining public holidays still offer a potential break from daily routines.
For workers, students, and the general public, knowing the schedule of remaining public holidays is important for planning agendas through to the end of the year. Moreover, some holidays fall adjacent to weekends, potentially creating longer breaks.
Based on the 2026 national holiday and collective leave calendar, there are five holidays remaining from June to December. The details are as follows:
- 16 June 2026 (Tuesday)
The nearest remaining national holiday is the Islamic New Year 1448 Hijriah, which falls on Tuesday, 16 June 2026. This is the only public holiday left in June.
- 17 August 2026 (Monday)
After June, the public must wait until August for the next national holiday. On Monday, 17 August 2026, Indonesia commemorates the Republic of Indonesia’s Independence Day. Falling at the start of the week, this public holiday automatically creates a three-day weekend for many workers and students, spanning Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
- 25 August 2026 (Tuesday)
Still in the same month, the public receives another national holiday on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, in observance of the Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday. The gap of about one week after Independence Day makes August the month with the highest number of remaining national holidays in 2026.
- 24 December 2026 (Thursday)
Approaching the year’s end, the government has designated Thursday, 24 December 2026, as collective leave for Christmas. This date provides an opportunity for many people to begin enjoying the year-end holiday atmosphere, as it is adjacent to Christmas Day.
- 25 December 2026 (Friday)
A day after the collective leave, the public enjoys the Christmas Day national holiday, which falls on Friday, 25 December 2026. The combination of collective leave on Thursday and a national holiday on Friday makes the 2026 Christmas week one of the longest remaining holiday periods of the year.
