Five officials in scam probe
KUPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: An investigation is underway on five officials of the provincial education and culture ministry office and four employees of a construction company for alleged involvement in a Rp 1 billion scam centered on six school building construction projects in the province.
"We will thoroughly investigate the case," Chief of the High Court Poernama Munthe was quoted by Antara as saying here over the weekend.
The Rp 3.1 billion construction projects, financed by the Organization of Economic Council Fund (OECF), should have been completed in the 1997/1998fiscal year.
He said PT Tridakon, which was contracted to carry out the junior high school building construction, has yet to finish the project and the nine suspects were still under arrest.
Poernama declined to identify the suspects. (rms)
