Five New Velodrome–Manggarai LRT Stations to Open in August 2026
The LRT Jakarta 1B on the Velodrome–Manggarai route is targeted to officially commence operations from August 2026. The Jakarta LRT extension along about 6.4 kilometres will introduce five new stations. These LRT stations will be integrated with several modes of transport in Jakarta, including the KRL Commuter Line at Manggarai Station in South Jakarta. “For LRT Jakarta 1B, we target it in accordance with the timeline — in August, God willing, it can operate officially,” said Iwan, as reported by Kompas.com on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The five new Velodrome–Manggarai LRT stations are: The route is an extension of the Pegangsaan Dua–Velodrome corridor, which has been in operation since 2019. In the Manggarai area, the LRT line will be integrated with the Jabodetabek KRL Commuter Line and TransJakarta services, thereby facilitating intermodal mobility for the public. PT Waskita Karya notes that progress on the LRT Jakarta Phase 1B Velodrome–Manggarai project has reached 92.76 percent. Director of Operations II at Waskita Karya, Paulus Budi Kartiko, said the company continues to accelerate works while prioritising construction safety and road users. “Construction safety, both in securing the balance cantilever construction and for road users, must be prioritised,” Paulus said, quoted by Antara. According to Paulus, the main challenges stem from Jakarta’s dense traffic conditions and the limited space for works in urban areas. Therefore, construction work has largely been carried out at night to avoid disrupting traffic. Testing has been conducted on all components and subsystems, ranging from tracks, signalling, electrical systems, communications to operational integration.
