Five New Mining Regulations to be Issued in 2010
TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Mineral, Coal, and Geothermal director-general, Bambang Setiawan, is aiming to produce five drafts on 28 guidelines to complement the Mineral and Coal Law by 2010. He said the drafts cover mining areas, mineral and coal businesses, mining regulations and supervision, as well as issues on reclamation and post-mining operations. The regulations will specify the domestic market obligation of mining companies.
According to Bambang, his department has targeted a policy to support the processing and purifying of mining products. It also plans to formulate a policy to meet domestic coal demands. Twelve new mining areas have been identified, leading to 56 new working mining areas. “We are also targeting geothermal utilization in 15 locations,” he added.
