Five Missing After KMP Putri Yasmin Catches Fire in West Lombok Waters
A total of 212 passengers of the KMP Putri Yasmin ferry that caught fire in the waters off Sekotong, West Lombok, were successfully evacuated by Wednesday evening (12/8/2026). However, five other passengers remain in the search process.
Information received by detikBali indicates that the five passengers still being sought have been reported to the SAR Post at Lembar Port. They are:

Nufri, the uncle of Selvina Rambu Mayi, is still waiting for confirmation of his niece’s whereabouts at Lembar Port. The man from Central Sumba, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), travelled from Bali to Lembar Port on Wednesday evening to seek information about Selvina.
However, upon arriving at Lembar Port, Nufri only found Selvina’s husband, who had been located and was undergoing treatment. “Her husband has been found, but his wife has not,” Nufri said at Lembar Port on Thursday (13/8/2026).
Nufri said the last communication with Selvina occurred on Wednesday (12/8) at around 02.00 Wita. At that time, Selvina reported that the KMP Putri Yasmin she was aboard had departed from Padangbai Port heading to Lembar Port.
“The last contact was when they were still on the ship at around 02.00 Wita. At that time the information was that they were about to depart,” Nufri said.
At around 04.00 Wita, Selvina then reported that the ship she was on had caught fire. Nufri admitted he only learned of the news in the morning because he had not activated his mobile phone that night.
“By 04.00 Wita the ship was already on fire. We didn’t manage to turn on our phones last night, so they sent a video in the WhatsApp group. We only found out in the morning,” he said.
Nufri said Selvina and her husband had been holding hands after jumping into the sea. However, the strong currents and waves eventually separated them.
“When they jumped into the sea, they were still holding hands. The currents and waves eventually separated them,” Nufri said.
Selvina’s husband was later found in waters described as being on the border with Australia. He was successfully evacuated on Wednesday evening using the Parama Kalyani vessel.
“Her husband was found in waters on the Australian border,” he said.
Selvina’s husband is currently undergoing treatment at accommodation prepared by the SAR Team. His condition is said to be improving, although he is still traumatised and continues to think about his wife.
“He is doing fine although still traumatised and refusing to eat because he is thinking about his wife,” Nufri said.
Nufri said he is still waiting for news about Selvina’s whereabouts at Lembar Port. He said he had returned to the port since 06.00 Wita to obtain the latest information from the SAR Team.
“I have been checking since last night. The SAR Team themselves said they stopped searching last night and would resume in the morning. That’s why I came back early this morning at 06.00 Wita,” he said.
Previously, the KMP Putri Yasmin caught fire while crossing the waters off Sekotong Beach, West Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), in the early hours of Wednesday (12/8/2026). Information about the incident was received by the Mataram SAR Office from the skipper of Rescue Boat (RB) 220 Mataram, Nurdin, at 04.39 Wita.
A 50-second video received by detikBali showed plumes of smoke causing panic among the ship’s passengers. All passengers appeared to be wearing life jackets. A total of 212 victims were evacuated to Lembar Port, while 35 others were evacuated to Padangbai, Karangasem, Bali. One passenger was reported dead in the incident.
