Five military cadets dismissed
MAGELANG, Central Java: The Magelang Military Academy has dismissed five cadets for various violations and will swear in more than 700 others as new Armed Forces officers, Antara reported yesterday.
The news agency quoted spokesman Lt. Col. Soerachman as saying that the academy's governor, Maj. Gen. Ilyas Yusuf, announced the dismissals and "returned" the failed cadets back to society in a meeting.
Some of the violations committed included grade falsification. "This is not the end of your life. There are other fields," Yusuf told the students.
The remaining 746 cadets will be sworn in today by National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Dibyo Widodo representing Armed Forces Commander Gen. Feisal Tanjung. (swe)
