The Sibolga District Court has handed down prison sentences to five men convicted over the fatal assault of a man who was sleeping in the Agung Mosque in Sibolga. The victim, 21-year-old Arjuna Tamaraya, was attacked on Friday, 31 October 2025, at the mosque on Jalan Diponegoro, Sibolga Kota. The five defendants are Chandra Lubis (38), Rismansyah Efendi Caniago (30), Zulham Piliang (57), Hasan Basri (46), and Syazwan Situmorang (40). Presiding judges declared that Syazwan Situmorang, also known as Juan, was legally and convincingly proven guilty of openly and jointly using violence resulting in death. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison. Rismansyah, Zulham, and Hasan each received 10-year prison terms, while Chandra Lubis was sentenced to 1 year and 3 months.
