Five killed in Pemalang collision

PEMALANG, Central Java: At least five people were killed and
another was seriously injured in a head-on collision between a
kijang minivan and bus Langsung Jaya in Cibiok village, Pemalang
on Saturday.

The dead victims were identified as Bambang Sungkono, 34, his
wife Fitri Susanti, Supartini, 30, the minivan's driver Suyadi
and Sudaryanto, 24 while the injured passenger was Wardi
Suprapto, 56.

All the victims were sent to Santa Maria Hospital in the town.

Antara reported the collision occurred when the minivan
traveling from Cirebon to Semarang, which was driving at high
speed, collided head on with the bus coming in the opposite
direction.

Pemalang Police precinct chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Denny Iswoko
said the minivan which was badly damaged in the collision had to
be cut to take out all the victims.

Ugi, the bus' driver, was still at large, he said.

He said all the victims were from Cipete Utara in Kebayoran
Baru, Jakarta. They were assumed to be relatives. --Antara
