Five killed in bus crash

MANADO, North Sulawesi: Five people were killed and five
others injured, two of them critically, in a bus crash here
Sunday night, a press report said yesterday.

The accident happened at about 8:15 p.m. when a van crashed
into Bintang Terang bus near the Manadoku housing complex.

Eyewitnesses said the collision happened when a speeding van
coming from Tumohon tried to overtake a car when it was too close
to the oncoming bus.

Killed in the accident was the van's driver Fendy Tangkulung,
aged 25, and his passengers Yohnny 26, Serva Umboh, 24, Olga
Lontaan, 20, and Basten, 25, according to Antara. (pan)
