Five Key Programmes to Boost Indonesian Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism continues to strengthen the tourism sector through five flagship programmes: improving tourism safety, quality tourism, Tourism 5.0, village tourism development, and strengthening events across various regions. Several indicators have recorded positive growth, including tourist arrivals, domestic tourist trips, foreign exchange earnings, the tourism sector’s contribution to the economy, and investment. Festival budaya are directed to strengthen assistance to the community in Bulak Village so they can independently develop a tourism village. The Astra Prosperous Village programme in Kemiren focuses on four pillars of empowerment: health, education, environment, and entrepreneurship. An advisor to the Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration stated that tourism villages contribute 20 per cent of the national tourism workforce and serve as a pillar for equitable economic distribution. Students presented their best ideas in a call for proposals programme organised by Bakti BCA, offering various innovative solutions for tourism village development. The Osing Kemiren Traditional Tourism Village in Banyuwangi has successfully boosted the local economy through the Astra Prosperous Village programme, with a focus on culture-based tourism.
