JAKARTA — Actress and human rights activist Wanda Hamidah has urged the government to reconsider exiting the Board of Peace (BoP), a body created by former U.S. President Donald Trump, after five Indonesian citizens were arrested by Israeli forces. The five Indonesians were reported to have been detained while undertaking humanitarian missions with Global Sumud Flotilla in the waters off Cyprus.

‘Primarily to press our country and our President to withdraw from the Board of Genocide (BOP) established by Trump,’ Wanda said at a press conference on Monday evening, 18 May 2026. In addition to calling for withdrawal from the BOP, Wanda urged the Indonesian government to provide maximum protection for Indonesian citizens abducted by Zionist Israel, as the five confirmed detainees are likely to be taken to and imprisoned in Israel’s illegal Zionist settlements in Tel Aviv.

She also urged the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly the Indonesian Embassies around Israel — in Amman, Jordan; Cairo, Egypt; Cyprus; and Greece — to act swiftly. Finally, she asked the public to pressure the government to secure the release of the detained Indonesians.

According to posts on Instagram by Global Peace Convoy Indonesia, from the Command Center in Istanbul, influencer Chiki Fawzi reported that five Indonesians were the victims of Israeli interception. The first named is Andi Angga Prasadewa from Rumah Zakat, who was aboard the vessel Joseph. The last named is journalist Bambang Noroyono of Republika, also known as Abeng, who was aboard the BoraLize. The Indonesian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Yvonne Mewengkang, said there are at least ten Global Sumud Flotilla ships detained by Israeli forces. An Indonesian on the Joseph vessel, Andi Angga Prasadewa, has been confirmed as having been arrested by Israeli forces.
