Five hit by stray bullets in Ambon
AMBON: Five people, including three police officers and two children, were wounded by stray bullets in Ambon, Maluku, on Thursday.
The first was deputy commander of the first Regiment Battalion Adj. Comr. Tukidjan who was hit in the forehead as he drove along the Tantui area, Sirimau district, at 10:15 a.m.
The two children were also shot at the same site, where there a conflict among security officers stationed there.
Perigi Lima Hospital head Marampe said that Tukidjan had been rushed to Makassar, South Sulawesi, for intensive treatment.
Two children, whose identities were not available, were admitted to the Al-Fatah hospital in Ambon.
The other police officers hit by the stray bullet were Adj. Comr. Hariyanto and his driver second Adj. Brig. I Komang Herry Darmanto. They were shot as they passed through the Nania area in Baguala district. The pair were treated at Bakhti Rahayu hospital in Ambon.
No details on the condition of the five victims were available. -- Antara
