Five Gowa Regency Offices Searched Over IDR 16 Billion Uniform Corruption Case

South Sulawesi Police searched five offices within the Gowa Regency government on Thursday (30/7) as part of an investigation into alleged corruption in the procurement of free uniforms for primary and secondary school students, valued at IDR 16 billion. The five locations searched were the Regional Secretariat Office, the Inspectorate, the Regional Development Planning Agency, the Regional Financial Management Agency, and the Gowa Regency Education Office. “Today, searches were conducted in Gowa Regency at five locations. We carried this out to support the handling of the uniform procurement case we are currently investigating,” said the Head of the Corruption Crime Sub-Directorate at the South Sulawesi Police’s Special Criminal Investigation Directorate, AKBP Jufri, on Thursday (30/7). During the searches, investigators seized a number of documents related to the school uniform procurement process, from the procurement stages to the determination of the uniform types. “There are several letters and documents related to the procurement, the selection of uniforms, and other documents that support the evidence in this case,” he said. Jufri explained that the case involves the alleged corruption of the procurement of school uniforms and their accessories for primary and secondary school students in 2025, with a budget value reaching IDR 16 billion. “This is related to a report of alleged corruption in the procurement of school uniforms and their accessories for primary and secondary schools carried out by the Gowa Regency Education Office. The budget value is around IDR 16 billion,” he clarified. In the investigation of this case, Jufri stated that his party has examined 27 witnesses, including the Regent of Gowa, Sitti Husniah Talenrang. Investigators have also issued a second summons to Muhammad Basri, also known as Om Bas or BK, to provide testimony as a witness. “We have sent a second summons to Mr. Muhammad Basri, also known as Om Bas or BK. We hope he will be cooperative and comply with the investigators’ summons to provide information regarding the case we are handling,” he said. Jufri stated that the second summons was sent after the first was not fulfilled. Although coercive measures have not yet been considered, investigators are urging all summoned witnesses to be cooperative. “We ask all witnesses we have summoned, including Mr. BK, to immediately comply with the investigators’ summons to provide their statements,” he said.
