Five Former OPM Members Pledge Allegiance to Indonesia in Puncak Jaya After TNI's Humanistic Approach

A historic event unfolded in Puncak Jaya Regency, Papua, as five former members of the Free Papua Movement (OPM) from Kodap XXVIII/Yambi-Mewoluk formally declared their exit from the separatist organisation. The emotional and solemn procession marked their return to the fold of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI). This success was the result of intensive patrol operations, territorial operations in the Mewoluk and Ilamburawi districts, and a measured persuasive approach conducted by the 613/Raja Alam Infantry Battalion Task Force. Through solid coordination with the local government, religious leaders, traditional leaders, community figures, and other security apparatus, the five individuals consciously and voluntarily decided to return to the embrace of the NKRI. The sacred and humanistic ceremony was led by the 613/Raja Alam Task Force under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Inf Alim Sa’adi, and was witnessed by regional leadership coordination forum members, including the Regent of Puncak Jaya, Dr. Yuni Wonda. During the emotional event, the former OPM members read a pledge of allegiance to the NKRI before security and government officials. The atmosphere became particularly moving as they kissed the Red and White flag as proof of their resolve, concluding with warm embraces of brotherhood between the soldiers and the residents. Lieutenant Colonel Inf Alim Sa’adi expressed appreciation for their brave decision and stressed that the door to the NKRI is always open to build a peaceful Papua. Regent Yuni Wonda also conveyed his gratitude to the task force and affirmed the local government’s commitment to ensuring the livelihood and welfare of the former members for the advancement of a secure Puncak Jaya.
