Foreign nationals were also targeted in traffic enforcement during Operation Patuh Agung 2026. Denpasar Police’s Traffic Unit stopped five foreigners who were found riding without helmets meeting Indonesian National Standard (SNI) requirements.

The five were stopped during an operation held at the junction of Sunset Road and Imam Bonjol on Thursday (29 October 2026).

“Denpasar Police Traffic Unit officers issued warnings and took action over obvious traffic violations by foreign tourists,” said Denpasar Police Traffic Unit chief Commissioner Mohammada Bhayangkara Putra Sejati on Friday (30 October).

The five comprised two Italian nationals, Giulio and Emilio Geovarini; a Chinese national, Liu Sauchen; a Polish national, Alexy Pawel; and Muhamad Usman Azis.

They were cited and given guidance to prevent them from repeating the same violations. The action was also intended to reduce the risk of fatal road accidents, in line with the aims of Operation Patuh Agung.

“They were all found riding in a busy traffic corridor without SNI-compliant helmets,” Bhayangkara said.

The action against the foreign nationals demonstrates that traffic enforcement does not distinguish between offenders based on nationality. Police had previously stressed that all road users would face enforcement for violations, whether local residents or foreign nationals.

“As the Director [of Traffic at the Bali Regional Police] said yesterday, there is no distinction between local people and foreign nationals. Everyone is equal before the law,” said Bali Regional Police Traffic Directorate enforcement deputy chief Commissioner Ni Wayan Yanti Susanti.

Operation Patuh Agung 2026 is being conducted across Bali for 14 days, through Sunday, 18 November.
