Bali’s I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has reported that five international departing flights from Bali to Middle Eastern countries have been cancelled. A total of 1,631 prospective passengers have been affected by these cancellations.

“At present, we have five departing flights that have been cancelled. According to the data we have received, approximately 1,631 passengers are affected,” said Gede Eka Sandi, Head of the Communication and Legal Division of I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, as reported by Antara on Sunday (1 March 2026).

Eka Sandi explained that the thousands of international passengers represent an accumulation since the previous day. They are passengers from Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad. Notably, aircraft from Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Etihad remain parked at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport.

Eka Sandi confirmed that some affected passengers, particularly those who had been waiting at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport since the previous day, have been accommodated in hotels by their respective airlines. The remainder have not yet arrived at the airport as they became aware of the conflict situation in the Middle East through close coordination with the airlines.

“We are working with the airlines to ensure that affected passengers are either provided hotel accommodation, and from the airport’s side, we are setting up help desks to assist airlines in providing services to passengers so that when passengers request refunds, change routes, or modify schedules, they feel well served,” said Eka Sandi.

At present, there are no indications that the cancelled or rescheduled flights will resume normal operations, as airspace in several countries remains closed. However, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport assures that it will continue to provide updated information and keep help desks open until the matter is resolved.

Eka Sandi is also maintaining close coordination with airport stakeholders such as AirNav and security authorities to ensure smooth operations should there be passengers who have not yet received information.
