Five Facts About the Fatal Family Incident at Temanggung Glamping Site
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEMANGGUNG — Polres Temanggung is still investigating the death of a family staying at a glamping facility at Posong tourist attraction. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, though there are two suspected causes: inhaling a portable gas leak and food poisoning.
Here are five facts about the family’s death in Temanggung:
- Barbecue Cooking
The tent occupied by the four victims—MAM (52), M (43), AEH (17), and BAH (21)—is built on a platform structure shaped like an octagon with a conical roof. In front of the tent door is a wooden terrace about one metre long, still covered by the tent above. Temanggung Police Public Relations Chief Iptu Widodo stated that on the night the family from Ambarawa, Semarang Regency arrived at the glamping facility (Tuesday, 26 May 2026), they cooked food using barbecue on the tent terrace. According to Widodo, a portable gas set used by the victims was found at the terrace area.
- Tent Ventilation Closed
Iptu Widodo explained that the glamping terrace area and the sleeping area inside the tent were separated by a zipper door. However, the tent interior still had ventilation. “The ventilation exists, but when we checked, it was closed,” Widodo said during an interview on Friday (29 May 2026). Widodo added that there were two ventilation holes inside the tent, both covered by the victims’ family using mosquito netting. “It was extremely cold that night, so all ventilation was closed,” he said.
