Police have revealed new details about the man who attacked a teenage Bobotoh near Pakansari Stadium in Bogor Regency. The suspect, identified by the initials MR, 26, was fond of taking part in street brawls and often carried a sickle wherever he went.

MR was arrested on Jalan Raya Jakarta in Sukaraja district, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Tuesday (27 October 2026). He faces up to 15 years in prison over the attack, which killed a 16-year-old identified by the initials ARK.

Here are the facts about MR, compiled by detikcom on Friday (30 October 2026).

1. The suspect was fond of street brawls

Bogor Police Chief AKBP Arfan Zulkan Sipayung said MR was not a supporter, but often looked for opponents to fight around the area known as Jembatan Hitam, in Sukaraja district.

“According to the suspect’s statement, he often took part in brawls or looked for people to fight in the Jembatan Hitam area, around Jalan Raya Jakarta-Bogor, at night,” Arfan said on Thursday (29 October).

2. The suspect was not a football supporter

Arfan confirmed that the suspect did not support any football club. He said MR was always prepared to carry a bladed weapon for a brawl.

“I can confirm that the suspect was not a supporter of any club. He was a young man who could be said to invite people to fight and deliberately set out to attack them. Perhaps when he saw a convoy, he was already prepared, with a weapon at the ready,” he said.

3. He often carried a sickle wherever he went

Police seized the sickle MR used to attack the victim. According to MR’s statement, he always took it with him wherever he went.

“The perpetrator, or suspect, always carried a sickle on his person. It could be said that, since the incident in that area, he had prepared the bladed weapon himself,” Arfan said.

4. He attacked the victim while taking his wife out for food

Before the attack, the suspect had been having dinner with his wife. He then saw a convoy of motorbikes that included the victim.

“The suspect was with his wife, buying food near the scene, when he saw a convoy of motorbikes on the main road. He was spontaneously provoked into starting a brawl, took his sickle and attacked the victim,” Arfan said.

Arfan said MR had often taken part in brawls, although he was with only his wife at the time of the incident.

“I can confirm that the young man had often taken part in or instigated brawls. But that night he had not brought his group along; he was only with his wife, so he deliberately attacked the victim himself,” he said.

5. How the Bobotoh supporter was attacked

Police have described the moments leading up to MR’s attack on the football supporter, which resulted in ARK’s death, on Jalan Raya Jakarta-Bogor in West Java. The incident began as the victim was returning home after watching a match near Pakansari Stadium.

“After the match, the victim and a witness decided to head home. According to the witness, they then saw a group travelling in a convoy,” Arfan said.

The victim and the witness were riding together on a motorbike and followed the convoy as they made their way home.

“When they were on Jalan Raya Jakarta-Bogor, the group stopped. The victim got off the witness’s motorbike. In other words, the victim then joined another motorbike in the group ahead of them,” he said.

The witness, who was the victim’s friend, continued riding, then turned around and picked up another person.

“Another witness then asked the victim’s friend, ‘Where is the victim?’ The friend replied, ‘He went with another friend,’” Arfan said.

The witnesses then decided to head home, turning back towards their motorbikes. On the way, they saw a crowd and stopped.

“When a witness got off the motorbike to check the crowd, the victim was lying on the ground with injuries. The witness then contacted the police for further assistance,” Arfan said.

The victim was taken to Cibinong Regional General Hospital for medical treatment, but he could not be saved.
