Five candidates named

JAKARTA: Minister of Home Affairs Moh. Yogie S.M. has received
the names of five candidates for the gubernatorial election
Central Kalimantan sent by way of the province's legislature.

The five names are Asmawi Agani (South Barito regent),
Abdullah Zaini (deputy chairman of the Golkar faction), Donis N.
Singaraca (former Palangkaraya mayor), Eloeser Gerson (provincial
government secretary) and Warsito Rasman (acting governor).

Two minority factions in the legislature, the United
Development Party and the Indonesian Democratic Party, have
opposed the candidacy of Warsito saying he is not a native
Kalimantan.

Yogie is expected to reduce the number of candidates to three
before sending the list back to Palangkaraya. The election is
slated for June 22. (arf)
