Five buried in landslide
DENPASAR, Bali: A landslide struck Gianyar on Tuesday morning, burying nine Belong Taro village women under mounds of dirt.
Four of the women were rescued and rushed to Gianyar Hospital. The five who died were identified as Ni Made Sunu, Ni Wayan Sanget, Ni Made Jawi, Ni Wayan Reti and Ni Ubuh.
The disaster was the second to hit Gianyar regency in the past two months. In early January, 40 farmers were killed when a landslide hit Timbul-Pupuan hamlet following days of heavy rain. (swe)
