Five Bandung Residents Fined Total of Rp100 Million for Illegal Tree Felling

The Bandung Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) has imposed fines totalling Rp100 million on five residents caught felling trees without permission. The violations occurred between February and June 2026.

In his presentation, Bandung Satpol PP Head Bambang Sukardi stated that the fines imposed ranged from Rp10 million to Rp60 million for each violation. The largest amount, Rp60 million, was issued in June 2026 to two offenders.

“So, there is still a lack of coordination between RT/RW or the local village and sub-district heads,” Bambang said at the Bandung City Pendopo on Tuesday (14/7/2026).

According to Bambang, the Bandung City Government has actually provided a relaxation for village and sub-district heads. Residents who wish to trim trees themselves can do so as long as they coordinate with the local RT/RW first.

“Perhaps due to a lack of socialisation, they end up being impatient. In fact, this can be done, they just need to request a referral letter and submit it to the DPKP as the responsible agency,” he explained.

“If they carry out felling in an uncoordinated manner, we will take action. We summon them, and indeed the regulations require us to act, especially regarding administrative fines. The total reached around Rp100 million,” he said.

According to Bambang, the majority of violations occurred because trees were felled on main roads. On average, the reason given was that the trees were blocking access to residential areas.

“The person who felled the tree might need it for a road entrance or something similar, or it was obstructing access. Because they do not understand the procedure, that is often when the violations occur,” he concluded.
