Five arrested for dynamite fishing

PALU, Central Sulawesi: Central Sulawesi Police arrested on Monday night five residents from neighboring Gorontalo province for dynamite fishing in Tomini Gulf, Parigi Moutong regency, Central Sulawesi. They were also charged for polluting the gulf.

Police confiscated various evidence, including eight home-made bombs, cables, two matches and 12 volt-storage battery, said Central Sulawesi Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Rais Adam.

After a preliminary investigation, some suspects confessed that they were fishing in the gulf on the orders of Aris, a resident of Malalang subdistrict, Parigi Moutong regency, said Rais. -- JP
