Five arrested for drug trafficking

JAKARTA (JP): City police arrested on Wednesday five suspected drug traffickers in three boarding houses located in Central and North Jakarta.

The five suspects were identified as Hardjono Djawoto, alias Akiong, 33; Bernard Panama Lucas, 22; David Panama, 29; Hairul, alias Adra, 32; and Kasiyanto, alias Yanto, 29.

In a statement made available to the press, the chief of the city police detectives, Col. Alex Bambang Riatmodjo, said detectives arrested Akiong in his boarding house on Jl. Ampera in Pademangan, North Jakarta.

The detectives seized four grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) from the suspect.

Earlier at 10:00 a.m., the same team of city police detectives apprehended Kasiyanto in his boarding house on Jl. Matraman Dalam in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

The officers, led by Lt. Col. Abdullah HS, seized from the suspect 30 packets of marijuana with a total weight of one ounce.

An hour later, Bernard, David and Hairul were arrested by a separate team of detectives at a boarding house on Jl. Lautse in Sawah Besar, Central Jakarta.

The detectives seized five packages of shabu-shabu with a total weight of 26 grams, 11 ecstasy pills, drug paraphernalia used to smoke shabu-shabu and one needle from the suspects.

The five suspects are being held at the city police detention center. (asa/ylt)
