Five arrested for drug possession

TANGERANG: Police arrested five men late on Monday for drug
possession and use.

Officers arrested two men in the act of smoking marijuana in a
house in the Binong Permai housing complex, and confiscated 12
grams of marijuana.

In another house in the same complex, police arrested two
other men and confiscated 18 grams of marijuana.

In a separate location, officers apprehended a 25-year-old man
allegedly carrying one gram of putaw (crystal methamphetamine).

The top drug cop with the Tangerang Police, First. Insp. E.
Kosasih, said on Tuesday the arrests were part of an antidrug
operation by the police on Monday night.

He said the suspects would likely be charged under Law No.
22/1997 on drugs and Law No. 5/1997 on psychotropic substances.
Both laws carry a maximum sentence of death. -- JP
