Five goods storage warehouses belonging to Alfamart in the Tenau Indah Blok A warehouse complex on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Alak District, Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, were completely destroyed by fire on Tuesday (7/7/2026) at around 6.40 pm local time. Alak Police Chief AKP I Ketut Setiasa confirmed the incident, stating that five warehouses were engulfed in the blaze.

Setiasa explained that the fire began when a security guard, Nikodemus Leu, heard employees shouting from warehouses A18 and A19 about a fire. Upon hearing the shouts, Nikodemus immediately rushed to switch off the electricity meter. At the same time, the flames grew rapidly inside warehouses A18 and A19, forcing all employees to flee to safety. However, the witness could not determine the source of the fire or its cause.

A fire engine belonging to the Indonesian Navy arrived at the scene to extinguish the fire, followed shortly by firefighters from the Kupang City Fire Department. No casualties were reported in the incident, but material losses have yet to be confirmed by the warehouse manager. The five burnt warehouses contained reserve stocks of merchandise, including packaged food and beverages in plastic and cardboard packaging, which were to be distributed to Alfamart outlets across Timor Island. The cause of the fire and the total losses remain under investigation.
