Fitrah Zakat Amounts for 2026 in West Java: Cash and Rice
The National Zakat Board (BAZNAS) of West Java Province has established the standard amount of fitrah zakat for the Islamic year 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE. This determination is outlined in Circular Letter BAZNAS West Java Province Number 085/BAZNAS-JABAR/III/2026, which serves as guidance for all Muslims in the Pasundan region.
Fitrah zakat is an obligation for every financially capable Muslim as a means of purifying oneself from shortcomings during fasting and as an expression of social concern. In West Java, the cash value of fitrah zakat is adjusted according to the price of standard quality rice in the local market of each respective district.
For those wishing to fulfil zakat through staple foods, the measure is 2.5 kilograms or 3.5 litres of rice per person. When converted to Rupiah currency, a complete list of amounts is provided according to district variations.
Payment of fitrah zakat in 2026 may commence from 1 Ramadan. The Islamic legal provisions establish specific payment periods, with early payment recommended to facilitate distribution to the poor in remote areas so that benefits may be realised before Eid.
BAZNAS West Java advises residents to pay zakat early to streamline the distribution process to those entitled to receive it (Mustahik). Citizens should ensure payment is made through official and trustworthy zakat institutions to guarantee funds reach the truly needy. In 2026, BAZNAS through the Decision of the Chief of BAZNAS RI Number 14 of 2026 has established new standards to facilitate the zakat process.
