Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, underwent a fit and proper test as a candidate for Mayor of South Jakarta. Syafrin was examined by the leadership of the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

The DKI Jakarta DPRD held a joint leadership meeting chaired by DPRD Chairman Khoirudin, accompanied by Deputy Chair Ima Mahdiah and Basri Baco. Also present was the Chair of Commission A, Inggard Joshua.

In the meeting, Khoirudin asked Syafrin to prepare specific strategies to address bureaucratic obstacles, particularly regarding sectoral egos at the sub-district agency level in South Jakarta.

“How will Mr Syafrin handle that paradox amid the reality of each sub-district agency’s sectoral ego?” asked Khoirudin on Tuesday (14/4/2026).

“Usually, sub-district agencies are loyal to the agency head. Meanwhile, Mr Syafrin is the regional leader. Can work be done quickly in such a bureaucratic situation?” Khoirudin continued.

The control of civil servants in the South Jakarta region was also one of Khoirudin’s focuses. Especially since the South Jakarta area covers 10 districts and 67 villages. It requires firmness in leading thousands of civil servants.

“I want Mr Syafrin to have good control capabilities so that everyone works maximally,” he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chair of the DPRD Ima Mahdiah highlighted the difference in the speed of handling problems between West Jakarta and South Jakarta. Because the resolution of social facilities and public facilities (fasos-fasum) issues in South Jakarta is often unresolved.

“In West Jakarta, it’s finished in six months. In South Jakarta, it can take two years and still not done. Whereas the proposal for the handover of fasos-fasum is very important for residents,” said Ima.

Ima hopes that Syafrin’s presence will break the chain of slow bureaucracy. That way, every problem that arises in the community is resolved immediately, without delay.

“My hope is that Mr Syafrin can execute everything more quickly and every problem is not ‘ignored’, but resolved,” said Ima.

In response, Syafrin stated he is ready to resolve several problems in South Jakarta. Problem resolution through coordination and collaboration with all stakeholders in each region.

Mapping and identifying problems, Syafrin continued, requires full support from the structures below. Including districts and villages.

“There must be coordination and collaboration in solving them,” said Syafrin.
