Fishermen's Wives in Gorontalo Delighted with KNMP's Production Facilities
Jakarta (ANTARA) - A number of fishermen’s wives are pleased that the Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih (KNMP) is bringing real change to coastal communities by providing support facilities such as ice factories, culinary facilities, generator rooms, and workshops that aid fishermen’s activities and are integrated with the KDMP.
This was stated on the sidelines of President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to the Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih (KNMP) in Leato Selatan, Dumbo Raya, Gorontalo, on Saturday (9/5).
According to information received on Sunday, they expressed gratitude because Leato Selatan has become one of the areas receiving direct attention from the government.
Fatra Ismail, Marlena, Yusran Gaigo, Mardia Arif, and Hartati Marjuk unanimously conveyed their happiness over the changes beginning to be felt since the establishment of KNMP Leato Selatan.
“Alhamdulillah, there is change. Alhamdulillah, there is change,” they said in unison.
The fishermen’s wives stated that the KNMP programme has brought real change to the lives of coastal communities. Various support facilities are now starting to be available to improve the welfare of fishermen and their families.
Mardia Arif, one of the fishermen’s wives, mentioned several facilities that have already been provided, including the building of the Koperasi Desa/Kelurahan Merah Putih (KDKMP) integrated with KNMP, ice factory, culinary facilities, generator room, and workshops supporting daily fishermen’s activities.
“There is already the Merah Putih Cooperative building, KNMP. There is an ice factory facility, culinary, generator room. Workshops,” said Mardia.
They hope that the presence of KNMP can open up more opportunities for women in coastal areas to develop and have productive activities.
“Our hope is that in the future, we all, the mothers, have facilities, have participation, have improvements, in the future, the mothers have activities,” said Mardia and the other fishermen’s wives.
President Prabowo Subianto emphasised the government’s commitment to providing greater attention to fishermen across Indonesia.
In his speech during the inspection of the Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih (KNMP) in Leato Selatan, Gorontalo City, on Saturday (9/5), Prabowo expressed respect for the fishermen who face significant risks at sea every day to support their families and meet the community’s food needs.
President Prabowo affirmed that his administration is determined to improve the welfare of fishermen while providing them with the respect they deserve.
