Fisherman who drowned in Saguling Reservoir found dead

A joint SAR team has successfully evacuated a fisherman who was reported missing after drowning in the Saguling Reservoir, Cililin District, West Bandung Regency, West Java. The victim was found dead after a search lasting approximately 24 hours.

Cililin Police Chief IPTU Isman Rusmandijanto stated on Saturday that the victim, 27-year-old Angga Permana, a resident of Nanggerang Village, Cililin District, was discovered on Saturday morning after the combined team swept the waters of the Saguling Reservoir.

“The victim was found deceased after a search lasting approximately 24 hours, or on Saturday morning. The body was subsequently handed over to the family,” he said.

“After being handed over to the family, the family stated that they refused an autopsy and considered this incident a tragedy and fate,” he added.

Based on the police investigation, the victim went fishing alone using a barge on the Saguling Reservoir on Friday (17/7) around midnight after informing local residents. At approximately 6:00 a.m., the barge owner, named Dedi, searched for his boat, which witnesses stated had been borrowed by the victim. The barge was found overturned at the edge of the reservoir with no sign of the victim. The discovery was immediately reported to the authorities and followed up with a search operation involving Basarnas, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Indonesian National Police, village officials, and volunteers until the victim was found and evacuated on Saturday morning.
