Suparta (43), a fisherman from Baturiti Hamlet, Kuta Village, Pujut District, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), went missing while fishing near the waters of Areguling Beach on Wednesday (2/9/2026). Areguling Beach is located in Tumpak Village, Pujut District.

The Coordinator of the Mandalika SAR Alert Unit, I Gde Eka Suarjana, stated that Suparta’s boat was found by other fishermen in a severely damaged state, floating in the Areguling Beach waters.

“Local fishermen found the victim’s boat floating with the lower deck breached and leaking,” Gde said in a statement on Thursday (3/9/2026).

The Mandalika SAR Alert Unit Rescue Team was deployed to the location with rubber boats and evacuation equipment to search for Suparta. They have been scouring the area where the damaged boat was discovered.

However, the search by the Mandalika SAR Alert Unit Rescue Team had not yielded results and was suspended on Wednesday (2/9/2026) night. The search resumed on Thursday (3/9/2026). Gde noted that the team has expanded the search area along the waters of Areguling Beach and its surroundings.

The search operation involves a joint team from the Mandalika SAR Alert Unit, the NTB Regional Police Water Police, the Central Lombok Police Water Police, Kuta Police, Kuta Babinsa, Central Lombok Firefighters, as well as local fishermen and residents.

“We are warning fishermen not to neglect safety. We request that fishermen use life jackets and check the seaworthiness of their vessels before heading out to sea,” Gde urged.
