A fish storage warehouse (kastorit) located on Jalan Ikan Tuna III, within the Benoa Port area, Denpasar, was engulfed in flames on Thursday (3/9/2026) night. The fire appeared to have gutted the central and eastern sections of the substantial building.

Several fire brigade units were deployed to the site in an attempt to extinguish the blaze. The fire was initially reported by the company owner at 8:30 PM WITA. According to initial police reports, the fire is suspected to have originated from the second floor of the building.

“The initial report came from a witness who saw flames above. They then contacted the police, who immediately notified the fire department,” said the Chief of the Benoa Port Area Police, AKP I Gode Wiyastra Dwi Putra, when met at the scene on Thursday (3/9/22026).

Witnesses at the scene stated that the fire grew rapidly and could not be contained using portable fire extinguishers. The fire brigade subsequently took over the firefighting efforts by deploying several units.

The deployed units included personnel from the Pelindo Fire Brigade and the Denpasar City Fire Department. The fire was finally extinguished at 10:45 PM WITA. However, as of Friday (4/9/2026) at 00:30 AM WITA, cooling processes were still being carried out by approximately four fire engines remaining at the location.

Wiyastra explained that the crime scene investigation (TKP) could only be conducted on Friday (4/9/2026) while awaiting the completion of the cooling process. The investigation will involve the Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) of the Bali Regional Police and Inafis.

“We plan to bring in the Forensic Lab and identification teams,” he explained.

Wiyastra added that there have been no recorded fatalities or injuries so far. His office is also continuing to interview witnesses to the incident. Meanwhile, the financial losses resulting from this event have yet to be estimated.
